Natural Soap Making Workshop | Solitude Farm

Here at Solitude Farm we teach how to make natural soap and Bio-Enzyme – not only because the natural soap is better for our bodies, especially for people with sensitive skin, and not only because it makes good use of our auxiliary farm produce – such as hibiscus flowers, papaya seeds, neem flowers, soursop leaves, amla seeds etc. but also, and crucially so, because by making our own soap, we are in the position to actually recycle ALL of our grey water for irrigation! This workshop covers how to make a natural hand and body soap from start to finish, where the participant actually takes the soap home with them. It will also teach how to make Bio-Enzyme, a natural liquid soap using lemon peels and jaggery whose cleaning action is effected by natural enzymes as opposed to harsh chemicals, and is ideal even for floors, toilets, clothes, vessels and the likes. This workshop is an essential step on YOUR Road Back to Nature, teaching you how to honour the very foundation of all life on Earth – Water! You will leave empowered to start making soap with your colleagues, neighbours, friends, at work, at school, and so on, thereby bringing change to your society simply through your own everyday actions, – as regular as bathing and washing your hand. Learn the technicalities of making natural soap, the proportions and temperature of lye and oils etc. We will walk around the farm and harvest a diversity of local ingredients – leaves, seeds & flowers etc. Understanding the treasure trove of Mother Nature. An integral part of the workshop is also to demonstrate the simplicity and value of bio-enzyme and to show in practice how we recycle all the grey water from the cafe into the field. Timings of the workshop are 10:30AM – 12:30PM followed by lunch at Solitude farm café.
